Basketball Recap: Hallandale Takes a Loss

Hallandale was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 21st straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Coconut Creek Cougars, falling 77-29. The Chargers lost against the Cougars in their previous head to head back in January of 2019, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 46-31 score last time.

Coconut Creek got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Abigail Theophile out in front who almost dropped a triple-double on 26 points, 13 boards, and nine steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Theophile has scored at least a third of Coconut Creek's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Devonique Thompson, who went 11 of 19 on her way to 27 points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Hallandale's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Coconut Creek, their record now sits at 3-4.

Hallandale and Cooper City will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. As for Coconut Creek, they will venture away from home to square off against Boyd Anderson at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Coconut Creek is facing Boyd Anderson at the right time seeing as Boyd Anderson is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
