Softball Game Preview: Taylorville Tornadoes vs. Charleston Trojans

Taylorville hasn't had much luck against Charleston recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Tornadoes will challenge the Trojans at 10:00 a.m. Taylorville has given up an average of 9.7 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Taylorville fell victim to Mattoon and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Greenwave, falling 13-0. The Tornadoes' loss continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Meanwhile, Charleston came up short against Newton on Thursday and fell 4-1. The Trojans have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Charleston saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lainie Keefer, who went 1-for-4 with one double.

Taylorville's defeat dropped their record down to 4-21. As for Charleston, their loss dropped their record down to 14-10.

Taylorville suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Charleston in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Tornadoes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
