Basketball Recap: Hooker Takes a Loss

Hooker has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 32-28 to Balko/Forgan, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Bulldogs came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while Balko/Forgan are ranked 142nd).

Balko/Forgan's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brya Appelhans, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Halle Littau, who posted eight points and six rebounds.

Hooker's loss dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Balko/Forgan, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hooker will venture away from home to square off against Texline at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Texline knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Hooker likes a good challenge. As for Balko/Forgan, they are taking a road trip to take on Turpin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
