Garfield extended their road winning streak to five games thanks to a huge performance from Lily Shay. The G-Men sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Newton Falls Tigers on Tuesday for which the team can thank Shay, who had 32 digs. She has been hot, having posted 11 or more digs the last five times she's played.

Garfield wouldn't go down easily and took Newton Falls into a fifth set where they got it done with a seven-point win. The match finished with set scores of 28-20, 18-25, 24-26, 25-17, 15-8.

Newton Falls' loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Madalyn Knight, who had 11 digs and two aces. Another player making a difference was Karsen Gazda, who had 22 digs and four aces.

Garfield's victory bumped their record up to 13-4. As for Newton Falls, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-7.

Garfield didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Crestview on the 2nd. As for Newton Falls, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-1 victory against Cardinal Mooney on the 1st.
