Softball Recap: Wylie's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

Wylie dropped their record down to 19-8 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell 10-5 to the Wylie East Raiders. Pirates fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Raiders since on Thursday.

As for Wylie East, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-9-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games.

For Wylie East's part, Isabella Flores spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on 12 hits and racked up six Ks. Flores has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jayleigh Dressler was incredible, going 3-for-5 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyra Tawney, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

As of now, neither Wylie nor Wylie East have any future games scheduled.
