Baseball Game Preview: Fort Zumwalt East Lions vs. McCluer North Stars

Fort Zumwalt East is on a three-game streak of home wins, while McCluer North is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Lions will welcome the Stars at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Fort Zumwalt East is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Lindbergh just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Monday. They fell 10-6 to the Flyers.

Carson Topping made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. Another player making a difference was Jackson Bingham, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, McCluer North came up short against Hazelwood West on Thursday, falling 15-1. The Stars have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

McCluer North saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joseph Kane, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that Kane has hit this season.

McCluer North's defeat dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Fort Zumwalt East, their loss dropped their record down to 21-12.

Fort Zumwalt East was able to grind out a solid win over McCluer North in their previous matchup back in April of 2019, winning 13-10. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Stars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
