Baseball Game Preview: Lakewood Tigers vs. Ralston Valley Mustangs

Lakewood is 2-8 against Ralston Valley since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Tigers will look to defend their home field against the Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. Lakewood will be strutting in after a win while Ralston Valley will be coming in after a loss.

On Saturday, Lakewood needed a bit of extra time to put away Dakota Ridge. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Eagles, sneaking past 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted against the Eagles since April 14, 2016.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Ralston Valley's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of Bear Creek by a score of 4-3. Mustangs fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Bears since on Saturday.

Ralston Valley got a good showing from Porter Peonio, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Peonio has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ralston Valley saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nico Benallo, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Lakewood's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Ralston Valley, they now also have a losing record of 5-6.
