Basketball Recap: Ferndale Takes a Loss

If Ferndale was feeling good fresh off their 59-28 takedown of Rockwood on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Ferndale Yellow Jackets received a blow on Saturday as they fell 54-36 to the Homer-Center Wildcats. The matchup marked the Yellow Jackets' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, Ferndale still got an impressive performance from Joe Prave, who went 9 for 18 on his way to 22 points and five steals. That's the most points Prave has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Chance Washington, who posted six points.

Max Voyda was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 20 points and ten boards for Homer-Center. The contest was Voyda's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Angelo Alexander was another key player, putting up 14 points and eight rebounds.

Ferndale has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Homer-Center, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-4.

Ferndale will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Forbes Road at 6:00 p.m. on January 8th. As for Homer-Center, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 61-36 victory against Purchase Line on the 2nd.
