Preview: Westminster Wildcats vs. Heritage Patriots
The Westminster Wildcats will be playing at home against the Heritage Patriots at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Westminster will be hoping to continue their four-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.
Westminster put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They breezed by Miller Grove at home to the tune of 48-14.
Meanwhile, Heritage pushed their score all the way to 35 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 48-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Flowery Branch. While losing is never fun, Heritage can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 245th, while Flowery Branch is ranked 112th).
Defeat or not, Heritage got some senior leadership from Tony Green who threw for 498 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.5 yards per attempt and Dion Dean jr who picked up 179 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Dean jr's longest reception was for an incredible 72 yards. Another player making a difference was Myles Mims, who rushed for 90 yards and a touchdown.
Westminster is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Heritage, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
