Softball Recap: Millard Takes a Loss

Millard had lost seven straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped down to 4-13 to make it eight. They came up short against the Delta Rabbits, falling 24-12. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rabbits earlier this season, when they won 22-2.

Maggie Stephens led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Emily Stephenson, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.

As for Delta, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-11 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

On Delta's side, Elcie Shurtz was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with one home run, seven RBI, and three runs. Those seven RBI gave Shurtz a new career-high. Joslyn Christiansen was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Millard will venture away from home to face off against Duchesne at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Delta, they will head out to take on Wayne at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rabbits will need to watch out since the Badgers have now posted at least ten runs in their last four contests.
