Recap: Arickaree Bison vs. Stratton Eagles

On Friday, The Arickaree Bison faced the Stratton Eagles in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Arickaree had to suffer through a rough 59-6 loss at the hands of Stratton. It was the first time this season that Arickaree let down their fans at home.

Austin Wright threw for 98 yards on 11 of 20 attempts. Jorge Ramos was his top target, gaining 84 total yards and a touchdown.

Cyler Notter continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Stratton, picking up 85 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 83 yards on only eight carries. Another player making a difference was Drew Fox, who rushed for 91 yards and a touchdown.

The team's defense also helped out by holding Arickaree to a paltry 132 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Stratton's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out nine times before it was all said and done. It was a group effort, with three guys contributing.

Arickaree's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Stratton, their victory was their tenth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 8-0.

Arickaree will square off against Bethune at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Bethune is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Stratton, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Fleming at 7:00 p.m. Fleming knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Stratton likes a good challenge.
