The Valor Preparatory Academy Knights will square off against the Bracken Christian Warriors on Tuesday. Valor Preparatory Academy has given up an average of 13 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Friday just wasn't the day for Valor Preparatory Academy's offense. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 15-0 to Sacred Heart, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Bracken Christian ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against San Antonio Christian, sneaking past 7-6. Winning may never get old, but the Warriors sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Blake Gledhill and Jack Burggraaf did most of the damage at the plate: Gledhill scored a run and stole three bases while going 3-for-4, while Burggraaf got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four RBI and one run. Those three hits gave Gledhill a new career-high. Braunsen Manwill was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one double.
They weren't the only one making solid contact: Bracken Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Bracken Christian pushed their record up to 13-11 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Valor Preparatory Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Valor Preparatory Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .469. However, it's not like Bracken Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .447. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Valor Preparatory Academy suffered a grim 16-5 defeat to Bracken Christian in their previous meeting back in March. Will the Knights have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
