Soccer Recap: Canyon del Oro Comes Up Short

Canyon del Oro entered their matchup against Walden Grove on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Canyon del Oro Dorados lost 5-1 to the Walden Grove Red Wolves. While losing is never fun, the Dorados can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while the Red Wolves are ranked 19th).

Canyon del Oro's goal came courtesy of Zoey Gist, who's now up to six this season.

Canyon del Oro's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Walden Grove, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-1.

Canyon del Oro will square off against Maricopa at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Walden Grove, they will take on Cholla at 6:00 p.m. on January 15th. Walden Grove is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 4.8 goals per game this season.
