Baseball Recap: Marinette Now 3-1 over Last Four Games

Marinette hadn't done well against Freedom recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Marines walked away with a 7-2 win over the Irish. This was payback for the Marines, who suffered an 11-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Justin Kruse spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Levi Hanson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Chase MacGregor, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Marinette has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Freedom, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season.

Marinette does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Freedom, they will challenge Shiocton at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
