Baseball Recap: Johnston Comes Up Short

Johnston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 3-0 to the East Greenwich Avengers. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Manny Rios was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Johnston's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for East Greenwich, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-5 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Johnston will head out to face off against Rogers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for East Greenwich, they will venture away from home to challenge Pilgrim at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
