Softball Recap: Pinconning's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Wednesday

If Pinconning was riding high fresh off their 17-1 takedown of Harrison last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Spartans took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Grayling Vikings on Wednesday. The Spartans' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Pinconning saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaylee Rugenstein, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Rugenstein has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

Pinconning's loss dropped their record down to 11-15. As for Grayling, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6-1 record this season.

Pinconning is taking a road trip to face off against Meridian at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Grayling, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Buckley at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bears have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
