Soccer Game Preview: Connell vs. Wahluke

The Connell Eagles will head out to take on the Wahluke Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Connell proved they can win big on Friday (they won by nine) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. Their defense stepped up to hand Bridgeport a 1-0 shutout.

Meanwhile, Wahluke came tearing into Tuesday's game with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.2 goals), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Spartans 8-1. Wahluke might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by three goals or more this season.

Wahluke's win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 84 goals over those ten contests. As for Connell, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

Connell beat Wahluke by a goal in their previous matchup back in March, winning 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
