Baseball Recap: Slidell Comes Up Short

Slidell's tournament run continued when they took on Riverdale on Saturday. The Slidell Tigers fell 4-1 to the Riverdale Rebels.

Carter Bucholz was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and only a hit over 4.2 innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Slidell saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sergio Sotillo, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Sotillo also hit a hit, marking his first of the season. Brayden Calamari was another, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Slidell's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Riverdale, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-2.

Looking ahead, Slidell will square off against Ponchatoula at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Riverdale, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Warren Easton at 7:00 p.m.
