Conwell-Egan Catholic hasn't had much luck against Neumann-Goretti recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Saints at 4:00 p.m. Neumann-Goretti took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Conwell-Egan Catholic, who comes in off a win.
Conwell-Egan Catholic took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They walked away with a 6-3 win over Central.

Joey Ortiz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits. Conwell-Egan Catholic is 2-1 when Ortiz allows two or fewer earned runs, but 5-6 otherwise.
At the plate, Denny Fife was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Connor Landau, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Neumann-Goretti might've scored the first runs on Saturday, but it was Holy Ghost Prep who claimed the real prize. The Saints fell 6-3 to the Firebirds. The Saints have struggled against the Firebirds recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
Neumann-Goretti also got a good showing from Nick Morici, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time Morici hasn't allowed a single hit since back in March.
On the hitting side, Neumann-Goretti saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Christian Meitzler, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Nicholas Cerone was another, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.
The victory got Conwell-Egan Catholic back to even at 7-7. As for Neumann-Goretti, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Conwell-Egan Catholic has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Neumann-Goretti struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.6 strikeouts.
