Preview: Cahokia Comanches vs. Jacksonville Crimsons
The Cahokia Comanches have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Jacksonville Crimsons at 6:00 p.m. on December 20th. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around on Wednesday.
Last Thursday, Cahokia was beaten by Mt. Vernon 98-35. Cahokia was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 60-20.
Meanwhile, Jacksonville's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Springfield at home and fell 66-15. While losing is never fun, Jacksonville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 493rd, while Springfield is ranked 190th).
Despite the loss, Jacksonville got a solid performance out of Zara Harper, who scored six points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Mia Schaecher, who scored five points.
Cahokia has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Jacksonville, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-12.
Cahokia took their victory against Jacksonville when the teams last played back in December of 2017 by a conclusive 68-45. Does Cahokia have another victory up their sleeve, or will Jacksonville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
