Basketball Recap: Liberty Mountaineers vs. Lewis County Minutemen
Liberty was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a blow against the Lewis County Minutemen, falling 91-28. The Mountaineers lost against the Minutemen in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 69-42 score last time.
Lewis County was led to victory by Kenzie Egress and Ella Pinkney. Egress went 6-for-8 on her way to 12 points along with six rebounds and five steals, while Pinkney went 6-for-8 en route to 14 points and four steals. The dominant performance also gave Pinkney a new career-high in field goal percentage (75%). Paelyn Hinkle was another key player, putting up 11 points and six assists.
Liberty's defeat dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Lewis County, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season.
