Softball Recap: Chapel Hill Takes a Loss

After flying high against Hillside last Wednesday, Chapel Hill came back down to earth. The Tigers came up short against the East Chapel Hill Wildcats on Tuesday, falling 12-4. The Tigers have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Channing Clark spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and six unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Alexandra (Kes) Duncan was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jillian Evans, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.

Chapel Hill's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for East Chapel Hill, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-5 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Chapel Hill is set to square off against their familiar foe Jordan at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, East Chapel Hill will take on rival Northern Durham at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
