Recap: Wickliffe Blue Devils vs. Crestwood Red Devils
If the Wickliffe Blue Devils were feeling good off their 68-48 takedown of the St. Martin de Porres Lions last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Wickliffe was dealt a 90-57 loss at the hands of Crestwood on Friday. While losing is never fun, Wickliffe can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 720th, while Crestwood is ranked 187th).
Crestwood's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dekota Johnson, who went 6 for 13 from beyond the arc en route to 29 points and 8 assists. It was the first time this season that Johnson posted eight or more assists. Brody Durham was another key contributor, scoring 23 points along with six assists and five steals.
Wickliffe has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which is still a better percentage than their 4-13 record this season. As for Crestwood, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 17-2.
Wickliffe will play host again and welcome Cardinal, where tip off is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Wickliffe is facing Cardinal at the right time seeing as Cardinal is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Crestwood, they will head out on the road to square off against Field at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Field has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
