Baseball Recap: Independence Comes Up Short

Independence suffered their closest loss since June 17, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of the Benton Bobcats by a score of 10-8. The Mustangs have struggled against the Bobcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Independence's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Benton, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Benton beat Independence by a score of 2-0 later that day.
