Volleyball Recap: West Cowboys vs. Briggs Bruins
After flying high against Independence last Thursday, West came back down to earth. The Cowboys took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Briggs Bruins on Tuesday. The Cowboys have struggled against the Bruins recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
West actually scored more points across those four sets (88-87), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 26-24, 10-25, 25-15, 26-24.
Victor Som was the offensive standout of the matchup as he had 12 digs and two aces. That's the most digs he has posted over his last seven games. Chris Reyes also deserves some recognition as he had his first block of the season.
West's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Briggs, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-8 record this season.
West has already played their next match (against Linden-McKinley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Briggs, they will face off against Walnut Ridge at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
