Basketball Recap: Hannibal Takes a Loss

Hannibal was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They came up short against the Moberly Spartans, falling 66-42. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 477th, while the Spartans are ranked 200th).

Leading Moberly to victory were Kish Jacobs and Amar'E Hawkins. Jacobs went 6 for 12 en route to 16 points and six steals, while Hawkins posted 11 points. Those six steals gave Jacobs a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Collin Knox, who scored ten points and eight boards.

Hannibal's defeat dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Moberly, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hannibal has already played their next matchup (against Centralia), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Moberly will take on Mexico at 7:45 p.m. on Friday.
