Basketball Recap: Progreso Comes Up Short

Progreso was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They received a blow as they fell 33-17 to the Santa Rosa Warriors. The Red Ants were probably out for revenge after losing 36-28 to them when the teams met back in January, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Mia Garza was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 16 boards for Santa Rosa. Those 16 rebounds gave Garza a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamryn Navarro, who posted four points and 13 rebounds.

Progreso's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Santa Rosa, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-3.

Progreso wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 51-23 loss against Raymondville on the 17th. As for Santa Rosa, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 31-28 defeat against Economedes on the 13th.
