Basketball Recap: Veritas Collegiate Academy Piles Up the Points Against Oaktree Academy

On Monday, the Veritas Collegiate Academy Spartans blew past the Oaktree Academy Grizzlies, posting a 101-51 victory. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 22 points or more this season.

Veritas Collegiate Academy was led to victory by Marcqell Freeman and Falcon Green. Freeman went 9 of 15 on his way to 24 points along with seven assists and six steals, while Green almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine assists. The contest was Freeman's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Talon Wray, who went 7 for 15 en route to 18 points.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Veritas Collegiate Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Veritas Collegiate Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 92.5 points per game. As for Oaktree Academy, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-9.

Veritas Collegiate Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 96-82 win against Spirit HomeSchool on the 4th. Oaktree Academy has also already played their next contest (against Isle of Wight Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
