Baseball Game Preview: Buena Chiefs vs. Millville Thunderbolts

The Buena Chiefs will face off against the Millville Thunderbolts at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. Buena is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.

Buena came out on top against St. Joseph on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run seventh inning. The Chiefs walked away with a 13-10 win over the Wildcats. The victory was familiar territory for the Chiefs, who have now won three matches in a row.

Jaevon Alexander was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Buena got a massive performance out of Josue Cuadrado, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits Cuadrado has posted since back in May of 2024. Ben Cohen was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Buena kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Millville was able to grind out a solid win over Ocean City on Wednesday, taking the game 4-1.

Millville's victory bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Buena, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Buena couldn't quite get it done against Millville in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 7-2. Can the Chiefs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
