Baseball Game Preview: Shadow Ridge Stallions vs. West Point Dragons

The Shadow Ridge Stallions will head out to take on the West Point Dragons at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Shadow Ridge will be strutting in after a win while West Point will be coming in after a loss.

Shadow Ridge made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Tolleson, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Shadow Ridge was the clear victor by a 12-1 margin over Tolleson on Thursday. Surprisingly, this marked the fifth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Nathan Paxman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits. He has become a key player for Shadow Ridge: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-7-2 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on DJ Lafitte, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and one triple. That's the most hits he has posted over his last 12 games. Another player making a difference was Nathaniel Pearson, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Shadow Ridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, West Point came up short against Piedra Vista on Friday, falling 15-4.

Kenyer Martinez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Bryan Munoz also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Shadow Ridge's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-8-2. As for West Point, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6-1.

Shadow Ridge couldn't quite finish off West Point when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 5-3. Can Shadow Ridge avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
