Basketball Recap: Omaha Nation Victorious

Omaha Nation won the last time they faced Santee and things went their way on Friday too. The Omaha Nation Chiefs pulled ahead with a 63-62 photo finish over the Santee Warriors. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Chiefs.

Santee's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Christian Torrez, who shot 6-for-11 from downtown and almost dropped a double-double on 33 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Tasunka Starlin, who posted 22 points in addition to seven boards and four steals.

Omaha Nation's victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-0. As for Santee, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Omaha Nation wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, an 81-51 loss against Bancroft-Rosalie on the 10th. As for Santee, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 80-30 win against Flandreau Indian on the 12th.
