Baseball Recap: Bowie's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Bowie waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 6-3 win over the Sam Houston Texans. For the Volunteers, this counts as revenge for the 1-0 victory the Texans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Roman Ortega made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed over his last five matches. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, Jayson Wheeler was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. Jayden Kitchens also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Bowie's record now sits at 15-5. As for Sam Houston, they dropped their record down to 5-13 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Bowie will have a chance to go back-to-back against Sam Houston: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
