Baseball Game Preview: Iroquois West Raiders vs. Coal City Coalers

The Iroquois West Raiders will head out to face off against the Coal City Coalers at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday.

Iroquois West can't be to happy about their upcoming road game considering what happened when they opened their season on the away from home on Friday. They came up short against Paxton-Buckley-Loda, falling 10-0. The Raiders haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Iroquois West saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rylan Pheifer, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, after only one run in their last match, Coal City made sure to put some runs up on the board against Sandwich on Monday. Coal City blew past Sandwich 16-5. The Coalers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The team relied heavily on Dylan Young, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Gavin Berger also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
