Basketball Recap: West Johnston Comes Up Short

West Johnston lost against East Wake back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The West Johnston Wildcats took a 47-31 bruising from the East Wake Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 449th, while the Warriors are ranked 146th).

When it comes to explaining why West Johnston lost, don't look at Caden Hartman. Despite the final result, he posted six points and six rebounds.

West Johnston has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for East Wake, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 11-7.

West Johnston will be playing at home against Smithfield-Selma at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. West Johnston is facing Smithfield-Selma at the right time seeing as Smithfield-Selma is stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for East Wake, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Hunt at 7:30 p.m. East Wake is on a three-game streak of home wins, Hunt a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
