Preview: Parkview Vikings vs. Chillicothe Hornets
The Parkview Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Chillicothe Hornets at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Parkview's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests.
Parkview pushed their score all the way to 58 two weeks ago, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 69-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Russellville. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Parkview came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 105th, while Russellville is ranked 237th).
Meanwhile, Chillicothe came tearing into Monday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 points) and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against Southeast as Chillicothe made off with a 52-29 win. Considering Chillicothe has won three matchups by more than 22 points this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Chillicothe's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from James Mathew, who scored 14 points. The matchup was Mathew's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sol'jier Allen, who scored 17 points along with three steals.
Parkview's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Chillicothe, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-2.
Parkview came up short against Chillicothe in their previous meeting back in January of 2016, falling 52-40. Can Parkview avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
