After flying high against Portland last Monday, Haddam-Killingworth came back down to earth. The Haddam-Killingworth Cougars fell just short of the Hale Ray Noises by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Noises apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September.
Haddam-Killingworth started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 18-25, 25-17, 25-21, 15-13.
Even though they lost, Haddam-Killingworth was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 14 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hale Ray only served nine.
With the defeat, Haddam-Killingworth broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 16-3. As for Hale Ray, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-6-1.
Haddam-Killingworth will square off against Lyman Memorial at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Haddam-Killingworth will be looking to keep their 12-game home win streak dating back to last season alive. Hale Ray has already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Morgan on the 18th.
