Softball Recap: Shepherd Starts Season with Victory Against Klein Forest

Shepherd gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Klein Forest Eagles a 7-0 shutout.

Jayci Wilson was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she also racked up four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. What's more, she also racked up zero hits, the fewest she's had since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Neveah Murphey was excellent, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2. Adison Simpson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shepherd will face off against Silsbee at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Klein Forest, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Nimitz at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
