Softball Recap: Bella Vista Wins Going Away Against Rio Americano

Bella Vista barely beat Rio Americano the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Broncos were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over the Raiders on Wednesday. Considering the Broncos' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Gianna Gambone was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Taytum Thayne, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Bella Vista hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Bella Vista's record is now 8-9. As for Rio Americano, they dropped their record down to 4-15 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bella Vista will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Inderkum at 4:00 p.m. on the 21st. After both having extra time off, Rio Americano and Ponderosa will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 4:00 p.m. on the 23rd. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bruins have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
