Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Kaydriana Vilsaint and Lizie Froloff Lead Naples to Victory

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Naples walked away with it. They walked away with a 55-46 win over the Dunbar Tigers on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Golden Eagles in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won three in a row.

Leading Naples to victory were Lizie Froloff and Kaydriana Vilsaint. Froloff went 6-for-11 to rack up 17 points and five steals, while Vilsaint posted 19 points in addition to five boards and four steals. Vilsaint's big performance that evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Jamyiah Rolle, who had six points along with ten rebounds and three steals.

Naples was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They are 13-6 when they've passed the ball that well.

Dunbar lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Malonie McCutcheon, who dropped a triple-double with 13 points, 12 boards, and ten steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in each of the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Torriyah Wingate, who shot 42% from the field on her way to 11 points in addition to six blocks and five rebounds.

Naples' win bumped their record up to 15-11. As for Dunbar, their loss ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 18-8.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Naples will take on Port Charlotte at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Dunbar, they will square off against St. Petersburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' defense better be ready for this one: the Green Devils have averaged an impressive 55.2 points per game this season.
