Softball Recap: Havelock Gets the Win

Havelock's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Swansboro Pirates 17-16. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Rams have posted against the Pirates since May 1, 2019.

The team relied heavily on Addyson Garner, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kinsley Heim, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Havelock was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are 10-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Havelock's victory bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Swansboro, they dropped their record down to 4-15 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Havelock will head out to challenge Northside - Jacksonville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Swansboro, they will venture away from home to square off against Topsail at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Topsail's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Swansboro's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
