Basketball Game Preview: Connersville Spartans vs. Yorktown Tigers

The Connersville Spartans will challenge the Yorktown Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Last Thursday, Connersville was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 46-42 to East Central. While the Spartans didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Trojans 12-7 in the first quarter.

Connersville's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ahniyah Bennett, who posted eight points along with five rebounds and three steals, and Serenity Pennington, who earned 16 points.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Yorktown had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They snuck past the Trojans with a 32-26 win. The victory was familiar territory for the Tigers who have now won five matches in a row.

Connersville better focus on containing Lilly Sylvester and Olivia Conklin as the pair were huge in Yorktown's win. Sylvester dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards, while Conklin had 14 points.

Yorktown is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.4 points per game. As for Connersville, their loss dropped their record down to 15-8.
