Volleyball Game Preview: Steele Comets vs. Avon Eagles

After both having extra time off, the Steele Comets and the Avon Eagles will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Steele will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Steele is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They skirted past Walsh Jesuit 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Comets have posted since September 9th.

Dani Dury had a dynamite game, getting 18 digs and three aces. That's the most aces she has posted since back in September. Kendal Dobbins also deserves some recognition as she had her first blocks of the season.

They weren't the only good servers: Steele was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. They are 9-1 when they serve at least ten aces.

Meanwhile, Avon got the win against North on Wednesday by a conclusive 3-0.

The final score came out to 25-11, 25-16, 25-8.

Steele's record now sits at 15-9. As for Avon, their record is now 23-1.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's match: Steele has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 8 aces per game. However, it's not like Avon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.6 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Steele suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Avon in their previous matchup on October 2nd. Can the Comets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
