Recap: International Panthers vs. East Jefferson Warriors
This season hasn't been kind to the International Panthers, who are still winless after their ninth match. They were dealt a 41-8 defeat at the hands of East Jefferson on Wednesday.
East Jefferson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Anyrie Perkins led the charge by scoring eight points along with seven steals. Another player making a difference was Graci Malic , who scored nine points along with six steals.
International's loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-9. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 6.3 points per game. As for East Jefferson, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. International's road trip will continue as they head out to face Abramson at 5:00 p.m. on January 12th. East Jefferson won't have much time to rest: their next game is against St. Katharine Drexel at 5:00 p.m. on January 11th. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: St. Katharine Drexel has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while East Jefferson will arrive with four straight wins.
