Recap: Forest Park Foresters vs. Poly Engineers
After a string of five wins, the Forest Park Foresters's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 49-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Poly. Forest Park has struggled against Poly recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, Forest Park saw an underclassman step up: NaJae Malik-El scored 15 points along with four steals. Malik-El continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Endia Thomas was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Forest Park struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Poly racked up 12 assists.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Poly to victory, but perhaps none more so than Arianna Makumi, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was A. Overton, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Forest Park's loss ended a ten-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-1. As for Poly, they pushed their record up to 6-0 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.
Forest Park is on the road again on December 29th and play against St. Mary's Ryken at 2:00 p.m. on December 29th. As for Poly, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Georgetown Day at 12:00 p.m. on December 22nd. Hopefully Georgetown Day focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Sunday.
