            Softball Recap: Lakewood Cougars vs. Nooksack Valley Pioneers        
        
		
        
        
            Lakewood was the  11-1 winner over Nooksack Valley when they last played one another  back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. Lakewood took  a  9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Nooksack Valley on Friday. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

 Katie Krueger put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out nine batters over  seven innings while giving up  four earned  (and five unearned) runs off   12  hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  given up  more than one  walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate,  scoring two  runs and  stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.
 In other batting news,  Riley Pevny was cooking despite her team's loss,   scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Lakewood's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Nooksack Valley, the  victory keeps they at an undefeated 4-0.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lakewood will get a bit of extra time to process the  defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Marysville Getchell at 4:00  p.m.  on April 8. As for Nooksack Valley, they will host Lynden Christian  at 4:30  p.m.  on Monday.
