Baseball Recap: Blake Comes Up Short

Blake extended their losing streak to four on Wednesday, dropping them down to 5-4-1. They lost 17-2 to the Sherwood Warriors. That's two games in a row now that the Bengals have lost by exactly 15 runs.

Blake saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Diego Troconis, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

As for Sherwood, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-3. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won nine contests by nine runs or more so far this season.

On Sherwood's side, the team relied heavily on Carter Sweeney-Strawberry, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. What's more, Sweeney-Strawberry posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March.

Coming up, Blake will take on Springbrook on Friday. The Blue Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.7 runs per game on average), something the Bengals will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Sherwood, they will head out on the road to face off against Paint Branch at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 10.2 runs per game this season.
