Basketball Game Preview: Clairemont Chieftains vs. Crawford Colts

The Clairemont Chieftains will take on the Crawford Colts at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Clairemont knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Crawford likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, Clairemont was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 73-67 to Coronado. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (56), the Chieftains still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, Crawford didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against High Tech SD on Wednesday, but they still walked away with a 57-53 win. Given the Colts' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 462nd, while the Storm are ranked 1050th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Clairemont now has a losing record at 11-12. As for Crawford, their victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-4.

Clairemont came up short against Crawford in their previous meeting on January 10th, falling 66-58. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Crawford's Mickelson Laguerre, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten boards.
