Basketball Recap: Ellie Lee's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Macarthur over Pieper

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact MacArthur can now relate to. They took a 62-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pieper Warriors on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Brahmas can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while the Warriors are ranked 39th).

MacArthur lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ellie Lee, who went 8-for-19 on her way to 24 points and five boards. She has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 14 times she's played. Zion Zarb-Cousin was another key player, putting up eight points and six rebounds.

Pieper's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Arianna Davis, who posted 15 points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Alison Naylor, who went 5-for-10 en route to 13 points and seven boards.

MacArthur's defeat dropped their record down to 27-9. As for Pieper, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-6 record this season.

MacArthur does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pieper, they have already played their next match, a 62-35 victory against Vela on the 18th.
