Softball Recap: Redbank Valley Bulldogs vs. Cranberry Area Berries

Redbank Valley had lost four straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 3-3 to make it five. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cranberry Area Berries. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 8-7 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

As for Cranberry Area, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.

For Cranberry Area's part, Danica Wenner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 12 Ks.

On the hitting side, Cranberry Area got a massive performance out of Avery Coe, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Those RBI marked the first that Coe has brought in this season. Another player making a difference was Jadyn Schumaker, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Redbank Valley will welcome Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Cranberry Area, they will be playing at home against Rocky Grove at 4:30 p.m. on the 25th.
