Softball Recap: Charlottesville Takes a Loss

Charlottesville had lost 18 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 1-13 to make it 19. They fell 5-0 to the Monticello Mustangs. If the Black Knights were looking for revenge after losing 15-2 to the Mustangs when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Monticello, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games.

For Monticello's part, the team relied heavily on Willow Barr, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

While Charlottesville had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
